What happens during
our first hypnotherapy session?

+ 1st Step: Initial Phone Conversation - This is an extremely important appetizer to
our clinical hypnosis menu. First, we'll want to make sure there are no contraindications
which would prevent you from going further in the session. Second, I'll let you know just
how many sessions (usually I recommend at least three for each issue: this seems to work
for most people.) Not only will this reinforce your goodwill and belief in the therapy but I'll
also able to arrange the best course of action for the work ahead.

+ 2nd Step: Preparation Phase - Hypnotic rapport between us is paramount.

I want you to feel comfortable with me and your new surroundings. Then I'll actively listen
to your communication style and your specific goal.

+ 3rd Step: Suggestibility Experiments Phase - The goal of these hypnosis
suggestibility experiments is to have fun as I find out how your mind works. And if there's
resistance, we find how and why.

+ 4th Step: Induction Phase - Depending on what would work best for you, this part
could take from five to fifteen minutes. Here I get you into state. And now we can do the
real work -- to bypass your conscious mind to help your Unconscious mind really solve the
resistance and struggles.

+ 5th Step: Therapeutic Suggestion Phase - The most crucial of the clinical hypnosis
session: the actual hypnotic change suggestions are administered.

+ 6th Step: Cessation & Post-talk Phase - The most important part of the therapy
session: this imprints the entire hour to create positive new habits! Then you'll be
awakened and one step closer to your benefit goal. Did time go by so quickly you'll ask.
You might not realize you were hypnotized; so I'll help you recognize what actually
occurred. Feedback from the hypnotherapist is important. And finally, I'll encourage you to
come back for the next session if it's required.

+ How does hypnosis work? Our minds work on two levels, conscious and
subconscious. You think, make decisions and act mainly with your conscious mind. The
subconscious mind, however, is what controls your habits. Hypnosis helps you achieve a
deeply relaxed state where your mind can focus on the positive changes
you would like to
make in your life. You can then be empowered to consciously choose behaviors that will
enable you to achieve your goals.

+ Can I be hypnotized? 90% of us can be hypnotized: the exception being those who
have psychiatric disorders or those who are intellectually very slow and unimaginative.
During your evaluation, you and I will determine if hypnosis is right for you.

+ I was hypnotized before, but it didn’t work. There are many different methods of
hypnosis. You can share your past experience with me and together we'll determine the
hypnosis method that will work for you (after your evaluation, of course).

+ Will hypnosis work for me? Almost anyone can benefit from hypnosis. During your
evaluation, I'll ask you a few simple questions to determine if you can achieve your goals
with my hypnosis systems. If hypnosis is right for you, your cooperation and a reasonable
commitment are all that are needed for you to get excellent results. If it's not right for you,

I will be candid about it and you will pay nothing for the session.

+ How will I know I’m hypnotized? Many people actually can’t tell the difference
between a hypnotized state and a "waking" state. They say they simply feel deeply relaxed.
In fact, most people enter into a mild hypnotic state several times a day without realizing it,
such as when driving a familiar route without thinking about it or when “zoning out” while
watching television. There are certain signs when you are in a hypnotic state and I will
point them out to you during your session.

+ Can I be too strong-willed to be hypnotized? Many people believe only weak-
minded or gullible people can be hypnotized. Nothing could be further from the truth. In
fact, the reverse is true – intelligent and strong-willed individuals are generally very
successful with hypnosis. However, success with hypnosis has little to do with willpower.
Rather, it relies on your ability to use your imagination, listen and follow directions. Bottom
line: studies show that most of us
are good candidates for hypnosis. How strongly suited
to hypnosis you are can only be determined during the initial evaluation at my office.

+ Is hypnosis safe? Hypnosis is a safe and gentle technique to use for self-improvement.
You’re in control at every moment and you can stop at any time. The only side effect is

you may find you have less stress in your life and are much more relaxed, like rousing from
an afternoon nap refreshed and renewed.

+ What are your qualifications? I am the author of the bestselling hypnosis book
(
Bookscan). Instant Self-Hypnosis. My most recent released last March is called Self-
Hypnosis Revolution. I became a certified clinical hypnotherapist in 1996 by the
American Institute of Hypnotherapy and have been in professional practice since 1997.

I have successfully hypnotized over 4400 people on a 1-on-1 basis and I've taught self-
hypnosis to more than 5200 people.

+ Will my insurance cover this? If your doctor prescribes hypnosis services as a
treatment, some insurance companies will cover these services. Only your physician can
diagnose your condition. Check with your doctor and your insurance provider to determine
if our services will be covered for reimbursement.

+ Can hypnosis help me with any other problems? Hypnosis is effective for a wide
range of applications, including smoking cessation, weight loss, better organization, stress
relief, public speaking, accelerated learning, success motivation, pain management, sports
performance, sales mastery, phobia release and more.
Contact me so we can discuss
your goals.

What Does "Self
hypnosis" Mean?

I know, you don't want to
be reminded of classroom
stuff. But... for the people
who are new to this
subject, let's get the
basics out of the way.
OK?

Terms for self-hypnosis
include auto-suggestion
and auto-hypnosis.

Here's a formal

definition:
self-hypnosis
is self-induced high levels
of mental, physical, and
psychological relaxation
that allows the
subconscious mind to be
more suggestible to the
non-critical acceptance of
information, ideas and
concepts. But let me
break it down
more...

The human conscious
mind is based on a library
of instinctive responses
to habitual behavior
which can only be
changed by appealing to
the subconscious. And
you can strongly affect
that part of the mind
when you use good
hypnosis scripts which
use effective imagery and
sound hypnotic
technique. The conscious
mind also usually
requires evidence to
change your habits.

Self-hypnosis can
update that instinctive
response.

Here are some examples:

When you say: "I'll
try to
lose weight by using
self-hypnosis," that
undermines what you
need to do because the
subconscious requires
more positivity.

Instead say this: "Now
eating healthy foods in
correct portions is easy
and natural for me." That
way the new good habit
would replace the former
negative instinctive habit.

Another example: To quit
smoking you could use
self-hypnosis to achieve
success. But you can't
just use the word "try."
You need to re-frame
your approach to achieve
success.

Research (and my clinical
experience) underscores
the value of changing
your language from "I try
to quit smoking" to "I want
to live a smoke-free
healthier life."
