| Hypnosis Audios: How to Make Them Work For You by Forbes Robbins Blair Some people who use hypnosis audios say their swear by their results. Others, not so much. The question is: With hypnosis audio, how can you make them work for you? You've locked-and-loaded your mp3 device or CD player. You've nestled yourself comfortably in your favorite chair. Now you're ready to let your subconscious work to rid you of your bad habits. Butit requires more than this to make hypnosis audios really work for you. In this article we'll cover different ways to really get effective results. Hypnosis Audios Improves Results of Live Hypnotherapy In addition to being really effective for self-hypnosis, hypnosis audios can really help one-on-one hypnotherapy sessions. In my one-on-one client hypnotherapy practice I record the live sessions onto CD and ask my clients to do the homework of listening to them several times between our sessions. After doing this for the last 14 years, I've find that people who have a disciplined approach to using audios are twice as successful! Talk about reinforcing the benefits of hypnosis. Here's a good example from my case files. Bill and Karen each saw me for lose weight hypnosis sessions. I told both of them they needed to listen to a shortened version of the audio recording (about 25 minutes) once a day for the next seven consecutive days -- until our next live session. Bill was excited and determined to follow through. Karen was ambivalent and said she'd "try." One week later, Bill told me he had not missed a day of listening to the hypnosis audios. Karen said she "couldn't find the time." Guess which of them achieved their weight loss after the next few weeks? Bill reached his weight goal easily. Karen wondered if she needed more live sessions because she lost only half of the weight she wanted. If she had only followed the hypnosis audio homework. Bill's winning effort and discipline not only multiplied the results of the hypnotic suggestions (through the value of reinforcement and repetition), it showed how committed he was to the whole process of self improvement. I was not surprised he succeeded. Karen revealed her unconscious resistance (something that happens to many people on the path to change; just ask your neighborhood psychologist how common this is). Because she wasn't truly committed to her goal enough to do her hypnosis audio homework, she made it a lot harder on herself. Karen told me she learned her lesson. (BTW, since then she came to me with another goal, listened faithfully to the accompanying hypnosis audio and got her results more quickly and easily the second time around.) Can Hypnosis CDs Be Used as Self Hypnosis therapy? Of course. Many people use self hypnosis scripts and record them in their own voice -- and get wonderful results. But self hypnotists need to listen to them on regular, repeated basis too. In fact, scientific studies conclude that daily self hypnosis audio listening needs to be followed for consecutive days of from three to 21 days (some people get good results much sooner though). I would add that you should consider seeing a hypnosis professional if the self hypnosis scripts are not working for you. That person could tailor the language imagery in a custom way just for you. And they can use techniques like aversion therapy, future pacing, positive counterpointing or any of dozens of techniques to help you. Then it would up to you to do your homework and listen to those hypnosis audios afterwards. Why Some People Will Still Fail to Get Results Some people value their first and second hypnosis audio listening time. Then they lose interest. That lack of conscious emotional investment can undermine their results. They have to approach it like it's something they must do just for a small, concentrated block of time. Goal achievement with hypnosis isn't a magic set-it-and-forget-it pill you can take. It requires effort during the session and for a while thereafter. With the right attitude and commitment hypnosis audios or self hypnosis audios can produce even better results for you. Just ask yourself, "Am I committed to this enough to follow the plan for a few consecutive days?"
